Nomad is a 2 column portfolio style template created by Web2Feel and converted to blogger by Best Theme. The template has a simple and clean layout with a left sidebar and 4 column footer.

Lets start with the menu bar on top, go to Design--Page Elements, click on edit 'Link list' and create one of your own. To modify the slider, go to Edit Html and search for this code -

Vito's Restaurant is a 3 column food or cooking blogger template designed by Putu Eka Ariyasa. It has a neat food design and main layout, with left and right sidebar, and 4 column footer.

Lets start with the main menu bar on top, to modify the links, create pages like About, Contaact etc from Posting--Edit Pages--New Pages, and the link will appear in the menu bar. To change the slider, go to Design--Edit HTML > Expand Widget Templates, search for this code -

VideoTek Blogger Theme

VideoTek is a 2 column template created by Theme Pix and ported to blogger by Deluxe templates. Its a movie-related theme with a featured content slider, social bookmarking icons, pages enabled and an internal search box.

The first menu bar on top is used to display pages, so once you create a page, the link automatically appears on top. The social bookmarking icons next to it can be changed from Edit Html, search for this line, and replace deluxetemplates with your user name -

Replace the user name with your facebook id. Creatica is a nice-looking 3 column blogger template ported from wordpress by Lasantha and originally a creation of Ft Themes. The theme features a full width slider, dual navigation bar, tabbed widget, featured section and social bookmarking icons.

Lets configure the first menu bar, go to Design--Page Elements, click on edit this menu and create a link list like 'Home', 'About', 'Contact' etc., save the changes. For the second menu bar, go to Edit Html and find this code -

Adding Alt Text in Images for SEO

The newer versions of Blogger and for some the older versions as well, don't offer SEO features by default, you have to manually incorporate it. Like the image alt text that forms an important traffic generator for your blog. Search engines can't read images by itself, it depends on alt text or image description.

Here is how you can add alt text to your images. If this is the image code -

Also while saving or uploading an image ensure that you have renamed the image with the keywords and not just saved it as 'IMG 45672.jpg', this is an effective SEO tip to attract Google image traffic.

In case you are linking the image to another site or content on your blog, then you can add title text after alt, title text would be a short description of the link or the image. Please note that Google uses title text only if the image includes a link.

Lightroom Photo Blog Template

Lightroom is a lovely photography blog template created by Dzignine. Its a 2 column template that displays photos in gallery format on the home page and sidebar on the left. Lightroom is available in two styles basic and advanced, lets take a look at some of the features.

In the basic version only one image of 740x740 appears on the home page while in the advanced style the entire photo gallery loads. The theme has a switchable background which is easy to change via template designer (in old Blogger interface) or 'Customize' (in new Blogger interface) then locate the 'background' tab. Select a background from blogger's default list or upload your own.

Change blog font colours etc. from Template Designer, although the theme comes with an attractive font - Times New Roman - which enhances the overall look of the blog. In order to insert your own blog logo in the header, go to Layout or Page Elements, click on edit 'Header' and upload your file.

The menu bar appears below the logo in the left sidebar along with blogger widgets like Popular Posts, Archives, Categories. Currently, the blog is aligned to the left, you can center align it by adding the below code after #outer-wrapper { from Edit Html.

Vasiliki is a 3 column blogger template originally created by Web2feel and ported to blogger by Best Theme. The template is unique in a way since the posts in the main column are arranged in grids in a brick fashion.

As you can see in the screenshot above, the header section includes the blog title, menu bar and search box. To edit the menu bar, go to Design--Layout and click on add new widget at the top of posting named linklist/ Top Menu/Menu etc, insert link widget to it, and save the changes.

Now for the important part - the main post area - use images which are 600px, in case they larger than that it will be resized automatically. Each grid displays post summaries with the 'Read More' link and number of comments.

Prof Owl is a 2 column blogger template designed by WP Themes Expert and coded for blogger by Falcon Hive.

It has a simple layout and colour scheme. The header section is cute with an owl image on the side and the navigation bar below it where the links appear automatically on creating blog pages.

The columns are designed in a notebook format and it has the date stamp pinned on the side. It also includes a custom search box embedded in the sidebar, followed by blogger widgets that look like papers clipped together.

Its a nice theme to use if you have a personal diary blog or on random thoughts etc.

Display Comment Avatar or Profile Images

Adding profile images or better known as 'avatar' to blogger comments is a useful feature already enabled for all the blogger blogs, but its available only if you are using the default Blogger themes.

Now to add avatars in your comment section for customised or 3rd party blogger templates, here's a quick look into this blogger hack.

If you are using the default blogger themes, go to Settings--Comments, scroll down and click on Yes in Show profile images on comments box, save the settings and its done!

In case the profile images don't appear, then simply go to Design--Edit HTML and click the "Revert widget templates to default" link near the bottom of the page. This should do the trick! (This step is only meant for standard blogger templates)

For customised blogger templates, follow these simple steps. Go to Design--Edit Html, click on 'Expand widget templates' box and search for this line of code -

The Thesis Theme is a well known worpress template for the ability to customize it to suit any website. Today we have the thesis theme for blogger ported by New Blogging Tipz.

The template like most modern blog themes comes with a slider, luckily its not one thats too heavy but a smaller one similar to the hybrid theme. Apart from that there are two navigation menus that provides you enough of space to display all your categories, pages and links. The thesis for blogger theme comes with social media icons, read more for posts, a bunch of floating icons, adsense ready widgets and placement and a extremely functional footer that can be seen below.
The footer offers a nice section for the labels, a three column footer and a cross section column after that where you can add what you like.

The second menu bar can be changed from Design--Edit Html, and search for this code -

If you are using Blogger Jump Link or the Read More feature for your posts, then here is a simple customisation tip for you.

You can now add post title next to the 'Read More' text below each post. Go to Design--Edit Html, check on 'Expand widget templates' box and look for the below code -

Most of us would have already heard of meta descriptions and keywords and the role they play in helping search engines appropriately describe your site.

Well even if you haven't take a look at a screen shot of the description of our site on google, the part circled is the meta description. You have the power to control what a person sees when they come across your site on a search engine. Wouldn't you want to put in some text there to attract every person who sees it.

Anyone would, except that with blogger there seems to be a problem, with the default easy method, as shown by Blogger Tricks.

By only putting

So instead of choosing to use this method or if you have already used the above method there is a simple fix, all you need to do is add a little snippet of code that will make the meta content only display for the home page or index page for the search engines.

Blogger has had this boring, older post, newer post and home links at the bottom of the page since ages. Many of us have already replaced it with a cool numbering system at the bottom of the page known as page navigation. Please back up your template before proceeding with this hack!

This hack has been given to us by Abu Farhan, not only has he taken the time to give us a hack, he has given us six different designs that we can have to use this hack.

Once you have chosen the design, click on the design number and download the zip file. In the zip file you will find a text file with code. Copy that code, go to your blogger dashboard, design, edit html and look for

This was a hack that I always wanted for a long time, especially since most of us have our ads under the headlines of the post which is a very very hot spot :) It does look ugly to an extent and sometimes you would like a particular post or page to look neat, like a contact page or a page displaying some particular art work you would like to sell.

No one had a hack on blogger until recently Geek Blogger came up with one on his best how to blogger.

First, your gonna have to back up your template prior to making any changes. Then the next step is to locate your ad code. Once you have your ad codes you need to put a div code as shown below.

Once that is done you can save your template and then go to the post where you would like to hide the ads, at the end of the post paste the code below.

The highlights of this template are a nice slider,

Novinture is a magazine style 2 column blogspot theme created by CamelGraph and converted to blogger by Blogger Tricks.

The template has a clean layout and includes several blogger features, lets go through some of them. Replace the jpg links with your image urls, add the post titles, descriptions of each slide (wherever indicated) and save the changes. Your slideshow should be up and running!

Novinture displays automatic thumbnails on homepage and automatic post summaries. Making it easy for the readers to share the post on social networking sites, each post has the Facebook share button and Retweet button adjacent to the thumbnail.

Also enabled in this template is the page navigation feature, which many bloggers are opting for. Blogumus, the Flash Tag Cloud is Back

Over two years ago Amanda from Blogger Buster ported the wordpress cumulus tag cloud to blogger, this flash based tag cloud was and perhaps still is the best tag looking tag cloud for blogger.

Unfortunately this tag cloud stopped functioning for over 6 months, after numerous comments and emails the tag cloud is still non functional.

But today Blogger Blog Templates is giving you a permanent solution for your blogspot flash tag cloud. If you would like to see how it looks take a look at the tag cloud in the sidebar.

Firstly you would require to download two files, right click on the links below and save target as.

swfobject.js

blogumus.swf

Now that you have these two files, upload it on your hosting account and then save the links.

Go to your blogger dashboard -> design -> edit html

Once your there first back up your template.

Now expand widgets and look for this line:

Once you change those links you can preview the template, the blogumus widget should appear in your sidebar.

This is very important, if you have an apostrophe or quote character (' or ") in your labels, the tag cloud appears blank.

Certain features of blogumus can be customized:

The width, height and background color can be change from the line below that you will find in the code

"tagcloud", "240", "300", "7", "#ffffff");

where 240 = width, 300 = height and ffffff = back ground color

but you can also have a transparent background where the labels float on your current blog background

look for

The blog title is in the middle of the menu bar on top, on the label of the jeans. Below that there is a broad space to write either an introductory note, a welcome message or anything else.

Viewport, a Unique Blogger Theme

Viewport is a pretty unique 2 column theme converted by Wordpress to Blogger. The template basically displays your blog posts in a picture format, so it instantly captures your readers attention.
The layout of this theme is neat and simple. The blog title on top, followed by the menu bar, which also includes the RSS subscribe icon, and the search box on the extreme right. The post area is in the form of a slider, that shows a fairly big image (940 x 600 pixels), the headline appears on top and the post summary at the bottom right corner. On clicking the headline, readers will be taken to the post page.

To put up your posts, go to Posting--New Post and add the below code -

Tea Time Blogspot Skin

Tea Time is a lovely blog skin designed and coded by Ezwpthemes. Its a 2 column theme that can be used for book, food or drinks blog.

It has an extended header image that includes several features. The blog name appears on a suspended placard, followed by the menu bar and a small welcome note for your readers, you can add text there from Design--Page Elements and click on edit 'About'. The menu bar can be changed from Design-Page Elements, click on edit top tabs and add your links.

To the right of the header is Recent Posts and Recent Comments that can be activated from Design--Page Elements, and below that is the internal search box. The RSS icon has been placed at the side of the main column, you need to add the blog feed url in Edit Html.

The main post area is quite different as compared to other blog designs. It starts with the headline, followed by the author name, labels and at the end of the post you have social bookmarking icons so readers can tag your post on other social networks. Below this the comments appear on a menu card, that looks quite neat and adjacent to comments is the date stamp.

While the sidebar on the right side of the diary is to display blogger widgets like Categories, Archives and much more.

A sweet template is what I would call the Choco Blogger Theme, an original creation of Best Theme and ported to blogger by New WP Themes.

Its a 2 column theme with a neat colour scheme and the basic required features of a blog. It comes with dual navigation bar, each above and below the header space. On the right of the first menu bar is the internal search box, while in the main header, you can change the blog logo from Edit Html. Search for the following code and replace all the text marked in bold with your blog logo and url.

The header logo can be changed with your blog name by extracting the psd file from the main download folder, open it in photoshop, edit it and upload the logo from header widget in blogger layout. Television Blogger Template

Template TV is a 3 column theme created by Templates Novo Blogger. As usual her themes are very interesting in terms of features and layout. Let's take a look.
This theme is ideally suited for movies or an entertainment blog. The header splits into two, one the left appears the blog title and one line brief of your blog, and the right you can insert a banner ad. Below that is the horizontal menu to add pages and categories. The header image has plasma TV images with shots of various TV soaps. You can download the PSD files of the plasma TVs in case you are keen on making changes in the header.

This theme is quite flexible, each post appears in a box and it can come in a expandable format or 'Read More' if you prefer. In case you are using the new post editor of blogger, then click on "Insert jump break" icon in the toolbar, and 'Read more' will be inserted in the post at your cursor position.

If you don't use the new post editor, you can still insert a jump break in Edit HTML mode by adding where you want to position the jump break. The images in the demo are the same size as the width of the column, if you want that feature, then ensure your images have 596px width and 120px height. In order to align it, add the code -

The sidebar is divided into three columns, one with full width at top and two columns are parallel below. At the top of the sidebar you can display images each other - width 338px and height 120px. The sidebar also allows you to add videos and an internal search box as well. Giving you extra space, the footer is divided into 3 columns to display additional categories or widgets.

Caribbean Pirates is a 3 column theme adapted from wordpress by Theme Craft and originally created by EZwpthemes. Its a beautiful template with lovely colours and images.
As the name suggests, the header has an image of Jack Sparrow holding the welcome board, the popular character from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, probably that makes the template so appealing. The blog title and tag line comes on top, while the search box and horizontal menu bar is below it.

There is small welcome note on the left of the main column with a cool image of a fish wearing glares. The remaining space can be used to put in your blog widgets. While the main column starts with the post headline, followed by author, labels, time and date stamp, and the comments come at the end of the post.

The right sidebar has a different colour then the rest of the theme, and you can add more blogger widgets there as well. Overall its a nice template to use for a nature, travel or fun blog.

Beautiful business blogger templates are like needles in a hay stack, but the Antagonist from be-Insight is a wonderful theme for any professional who wants to display his identity online.

This blog uses javascripts to create a look that no template has offered blogspot yet. Your homepage is divided into three sections thanks to the navbar, not really divided but the javascript functionality completely changes the page feel.

This template basically features an about, networks and blog section, the image above features the networking tab, if you click on any of the other tabs, this page compresses and then expands to feature the next tab that you have selected.

The blog has a fully functional blog, under the blog tab, this is definitely one of the themes that pushes the capabilities of blogger to a level that has not seen before.

Although it would be even nicer to have a magazine style theme like this one. You can download the template from the link below, its available in four different colours.

Insight has designed some really unique blogger templates. This one is Bloggerpress, a 2 column magazine style theme with a neat layout.

Its a 2 column theme that seems to be a bit similar to Christmas in my heart blogger skin, but it depends on what you choose for your site/blog. The header image is perfectly decorated for Christmas, with the mistletoe, Santa, stockings etc., and in between all of it your blog headline will appear along with the RSS icon which is in shape of a stocking. Besides it on the right is an internal search box integrated in a heart shaped gift.

The main column features the menu bar where you can include your primary categories. Below that is the date stamp followed by post headline, while rest of the post details comes at the end of the post - author, time, comments and labels. This template has a left side column, that includes a welcome note and the standard blogger widgets like Labels, Archives, Recent Posts etc.

After loads of searching for a food template for our Goan Food blog, we came across Template Mama's blog. This template was perfect for the blog.

Kiss the Cook is available as a two or three column template, its simple and elegant. The theme has an interesting table cloth kind of background image and an impressive header image.

The colour scheme of the blog is minimal, but the template design is rather simple leaving ample room for tweaking. The icons used are pleasant and fit well with the cooking theme.

The template does give a feeling of a basic blogger template, it lacks a navigation bar and could have more variety in it but overall it does fulfill its purpose, you can download either version from the links below.

There are several images used by the coder on this blog, they have been included in the template folder. These are heavy images, so its best to host the images on your own blog or a photo-sharing site like image shack.

Create a new post and add all the images that are present in the template folder. Leave the image as large and save it as draft. Click edit and copy the url of the image and paste the url in the corresponding position in the template code. For example body background image url should replace the text in bold -
